A Tale of Two Companies – Darrell Evans

Written by Darrell Evans | 12/30/18 9:16 PM

I met with two very different companies yesterday who both wanted help generating revenue digitally.

One very successful company offline has been in business going on ten years. He’s now moving his business online and is starting at square one online.

He has the SAME problems as the second company I met with which was a start-up.

The young ladies haven’t even built their website yet. They have a product and niche that has demand.

Here’s the issue they BOTH face.

Google doesn’t care if you’re a startup or if you’ve been really successful offline.

They both have to go through the same set of reps and processes to be successful online.

To address this in our agency, we have a philosophy that governs all of our work with clients.

“Tactics before strategy is the noise before defeat.”
(taken from The Art of War by Sun Tzu)

The company that is successful offline have has a decent amount of money to hire us and will likely retain us for a year to help him grow, the young ladies launching the startup aren’t in that position yet.

Yesterday was a perfect example of how we can HELP BOTH COMPANIES.

In the past, we would send the young ladies (startup) down the road and say sorry you’re not able to work with us because of budget constraints.

However, in the last several years we created our Digital Marketing Academy (online learning), our Digital Growth Mastery (two and ½ day) boot camp program and our monthly online coaching program called the Revenue Accelerator Program to help startups grow without getting scammed and stolen from by inexperienced marketers who fit a startups budget.

As you head into 2019, you need to take a look at your digital marketing strategy if you’re not getting results (leads and sales consistently).

Don’t chase every tactic on the market.

These two companies are both starting at the same place online (as nobody’s), their strategies will be different.

The successful company offline has enough money to try everything.

I told him to PUMP HIS BRAKES.

He can’t even spell SEO but wants to dive in headfirst. That’s a big mistake.

Most agencies would have been like YEAH! Pay me the big bucks.

The better approach for this guy was to build a 90-day plan to get out of the gate, get some wins and most most importantly, generate some data so we can plan the more aggressive and full scale campaign.

Guess what he said. “That makes sense.”

So that about the young ladies with the start up. Well, they’ll be hiring us to build their website and joining us at our two and ½ day bootcamp where we teach all of our best strategies and tactics so they can implement the right strategy for launching their business.

CONCLUSION

If you haven’t gotten the results you’re looking for online, you need to FOCUS:

FOLLOW
ONE
COURSE
UNTIL
SUCCESSFUL

Too many companies (seasoned and startup) are throwing sh*t against the wall to see if it will stick online and in social media.

What you should really be doing is 1-3 things consistently, gathering data to see what works, refine and scale what does and drop what doesn’t.

Don’t get caught up in FOMO (fear of missing out) and think you or your company has to do everything when you’re just getting started online.

It may be boring, but simplifying your strategy, then executing on it daily will lead to success.
